Bathe your nervous system in deep relaxation while exploring the gentlest postures Yoga has to offer. During this 1.5 hour long sound bath, we’ll allow props to hold the body in positions designed to gently release tension while enhancing energy flow.
Restorative Yoga is a largely passive practice where we teach the body to receive the benefit of asana while relaxing. There is still emphasis on maintaining alignment with the barest effort, so you remain present but very easeful. It represents a profound reversal in consciousness, from “doing” or “getting” athe pose to resting and receiving.
How lovely to practice in this way cradled by sound! Rondi Kirby is a credentialed and experienced Sound Healer who weaves a meditative soundscape using a variety of instruments. She is skilled at easing the nervous system into a receptive state, supporting the “work” of restorative practice.
This evening will be practiced by candlelight in honor of the Winter Solstice the following week. We’ll weave the evening with intention and meaning as we prepare to conclude this season’s Dark Passage.
If you have a mat, please bring it. If not, we have some in studio for your use. Wear comfortable clothes for gentle movement; layers are strongly encouraged. This practice is appropriate for all levels, including beginners, although you do need to be able to climb a flight of stairs and get onto and off of the ground.
Facilitated by Tiffany Bucknam and Rondi Kirby. $40.
