gentle iyengar and yoga for scoliosis
Gentle Iyengar and Yoga for Scoliosis is a hybrid class, which moves at a slower pace to allow for functional and/or therapeutic variations, including detailed instruction for students working with scoliosis. The class will incorporate active poses to build strength and flexibility, as well as restorative poses to balance the nervous system and end with a sense of harmony.
Iyengar Yoga is the style of yoga developed by Yogacharya B.K.S. Iyengar. It emphasizes precision and specificity of alignment within the pose, and makes substantial use of props to ensure that each class participant is able to perform the poses properly for their body’s needs. Its emphasis on stability and alignment differentiate it from other types of yoga, as does its unique and comprehensive education and certification program for its teachers. You can learn more about Iyengar Yoga here.
Robin teaches in the Yoga for Scoliosis method as taught by Elise Browning Miller. Yoga for Scoliosis is a respected, effective methodology for using Yoga poses to support bodies with scoliosis, helping to manage pain and slow deterioration caused by the condition.
