Emotional Health

Master of Social Work with an emphasis on community practice, University of Denver, 2002.

Tiffany completed The Compassion Course through the New York Center for Nonviolent Communication in 2019 and utilizes the Nonviolent Communication framework in much of her work. She particularly likes NVC as an approach for self-talk and self-compassion.

An experienced counselor and emotional health educator, Tiffany’s passion lies in learning how to feel and process our emotions in safe, effective ways. Understanding and trauma-informed, Tiffany most frequently counsels those working with obesity and binge-eating, history of acute and complex trauma, domestic violence, abuse, depression, and anxiety. She has recently completed coursework on chronic pain, which she understands to be simultaneously a physical and emotional experience.

Tiffany utilizes a variety of models in her counseling work, favoring somatic approaches when appropriate. Tiffany often explains that she’s a Social Worker who works with people’s bodies, because often they hold the key to healing. In her work, you will find emphasized mindfulness and related teachings from a number of spiritual and meditative traditions, Polyvagal theory, the drama triangle and related work on co-dependency (including addictions), understanding core beliefs from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and the abuse cycle. She completed the Kempe Center’s Trainer Training for abusive behaviors arising in childhood in 1999.
